Free 10-Week Support Group for Women with Cancer

If you have been diagnosed with breast or gynecological cancer, the Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Psychology Program is offering a free and confidential 10-week group therapy program. Finding out that you have cancer is a life-changing event, and once it occurs, everything starts happening very quickly. Many women find it difficult to deal with all of the things that surround this event, such as depression, anxiety, side effects from medical treatment, fear of what happens now, and difficulty getting or understanding information about their disease and treatment.

Our goal is to provide a safe and open forum in which women who share a similar life experience can explore aspects of their experiences with cancer specifically and with life in general. While the group aims to be supportive in nature, often we may ask members to explore at a deeper level their reactions to topics presented by the group leaders as well as those brought up by participants. We hope that the experience is a rewarding one for all the participants.

This program will be start the week of June 14th and will run for 10 weekly sessions. The group will meet for two-hour sessions at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Please call the Edwards Comprehensive Psychology Program at 304-529-2636 or e-mail Sarah Setran at warren15@marshall.edu for more information.
