Orthopedic Oncologist Felix Cheung, MD

There are fewer than 150 orthopedic oncologists in the country, and the ECCC is proud to be able to offer this highly specialized care to our patients.

Orthopedic oncologist Felix Cheung, MD, provides specialized care for patients with cancerous and non-cancerous tumors in their bones and muscles. Using specialized treatments previously only available by traveling several hours to another facility, Dr. Cheung provides limb-sparing reconstructions and bone transplant procedures for patients who otherwise may have been treated with amputations.

"By using a using a team approach with other physicians at the Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center, we can provide a unique, integrated approach for caring for patients with these problems. The cancer center provides the resources for us to treat our patients as people, and not as diseases," Dr. Cheung said.

Dr. Cheung is the region's only orthopedic surgeon who is fellowship trained in musculoskeletal oncology. Together with his nurse, Molly Brumfield, RN, OCN, and nurse practitioner, Bobby Marcum, FNP-BC, he treats both adults and children with benign and malignant tumors in bones and connective tissue. He also specializes in metastatic bone disease, applying the latest research that may prolong or improve quality of life.

Dr. Cheung completed his musculoskeletal oncology fellowship at Harvard Medical School and his orthopaedic residency at West Virginia University. He earned his medical degree at the University of Virginia School of Medicine.
